Huntington, W.Va. – The Cleveland State University women's swimming and diving team suffered its first dual meet setback of the season as it fell to Marshall, 232-122, as the second and final day of the meet concluded Saturday inside Fredrick A. Fitch Natatorium.
Sophomore Molly McNamara led the Vikings by winning the 100 butterfly in 56.94 seconds, her fastest of the season in that event and a time that extended her lead atop the Horizon League leaderboard of top times. She also swam on two relays for CSU Saturday as she swam the third leg of the 400 medley relay team that took second place in 3:56.75.
Sophomore Cassandra Oltman, junior Tobie Zeller and freshman Gabriella Marinelli joined McNamara on the 400 medley relay.
Marinelli was the runner up in the 100 freestyle in a time of 54.51 seconds. Sophomore Michaela Bargardi was the runner up in the 200 backstroke, as she touched the wall in 2:08.26.
Junior Jamie VanDewerker, sophomore Claudia Zido, Marinelli and McNamara swam on CSU's fastest 400 freestyle relay team, as the quartet combined for a time of 3:38.97.
Senior Tori Taffner was CSU's top finisher in 1-meter diving with a score of 229.95 points.
Cleveland State returns to action next weekend with a dual meet at Ohio State Friday, Nov. 11. The meet will begin at a recently adjusted start time of 4:00 p.m.
