Men Place Fifth, Women Place Seventh Through Day One

Brown Deer, WI - The Cleveland State men and women's swimming and diving team competed in day one of the Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championship hosted by Wisconsin-Milwaukee at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center. The men tallied 75 points (Fifth Place) while the women scored 88 (Seventh Place) through day one.

In the finals for the men, the 200-yard freestyle relay team started off the day with a fourth place finish and a time of 1:20.91, just .07 seconds behind Wright State for third place. Patrick Walsh finished seventh in the 1,000-yard relay with a final time of 9:31.80. The 200-yard medley relay team also finished in fourth place with a finishing time of 1:29.33. 

For the women, Samantha Sposet finished seventh out of 18 divers in the 1-meter diving event with a final score of 270.30. Jodi Turk finished the 1,000-yard freestyle in fifth out of 22 swimmers with a time of 10:17.36, just .02 behind fourth. 

The Vikings will be back in the pool tomorrow for day two of the Horizon League Championship, with prelims beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the finals starting at 6:15 p.m. Men's 3-meter diving, 500-freestyle, 200-individual medley, 50-freestyle and 500-medley will headline day two's events.
