Kyler Announces Incoming 2020 Recruiting Class

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland State head coach Amy Kyler announced the addition of six student-athletes who have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Cleveland State University and compete for the Vikings softball program.

Jenna Deang, Kiera Frascone, Torrie Jenkins, Kennedy Lonsbury, Alexa Sieger and Jenna Watts each signed an NLI and will join the Vikings in the fall of 2020.

Jenna Deang, 5-7, INF, Mokena, Ill. (Lincoln-Way Central High School)

On Deang: Currently attends Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, Ill....three-year letterwinner on the softball team...helped lead the Knights to three consecutive Southwest Suburban Conference titles...Lincoln-Way Central finished the 2019 season with a 32-3 overall record and captured conference and regional championships...Knights finished second in the state tournament in 2019...posted a .438 batting average and a .513 on-base percentage last season...three-time scholar athlete honoree

Coach Kyler on Deang: "Jenna's overall athleticism as an athlete will enhance her contributions at the plate and in the field. She will help the program grow on the field and in the classroom."

Kiera Frascone, 5-0, OF, North Lawrence, Ohio (Tuslaw High School)

On Frascone: Currently attends Tuslaw High School in Massillon, Ohio....earned varsity letters in softball, volleyball and basketball...helped lead the Mustangs to a 20-5 record in 2019...Tuslaw captured sectional and conference championships last season...batted .562 last season with 17 RBIs...stole 35 bases during her junior season...earned Second Team All-Ohio honors...was named First Team All-Principals Athletic Conference...also named first team all-district and first team all-county...three-time First Team All-PAC having earned recognition in 2017, 2018 and 2019...also three-time first team all-district and all-county...earned three consecutive team most valuable player awards

Coach Kyler on Frascone: "Kiera has high energy and is fun to watch play the game. Her speed, agility and game instinct are top notch and make her a threat at the plate and in the field. We are excited to add her to the Viking family."

Torrie Jenkins, 5-9, P/SS, Buffalo, N.Y. (St. Mary's High School of Lancaster)

On Jenkins: Currently attends St. Mary's High School of Lancaster in Lancaster, N.Y.....helped lead the Lancers to a league and playoff championship last season...earned First Team All-Catholic League honors as a junior...also selected First Team All-Western New York...selected as the Monsignor Martin Player of the Year last season...struck out 57 batters in 63.2 innings pitched...posted a .493 batting average...had an .898 slugging percentage and a .544 on-base percentage

Coach Kyler on Jenkins: "Torrie brings power to the mound and will become a solid factor on the pitching staff. I am excited to witness her growth as she builds strength as a pitcher."

Kennedy Lonsbury, 5-3, INF/OF, Creston, Ohio (Norwayne High School)

On Lonsbury: Currently attends Norwayne High School in Creston, Ohio....three-year letterwinner in softball...helped lead the Bobcats to a Wayne County Athletic League championship last season...Three-time All-WCAL Second Team honoree...earned recognition on the scholar and honor roll

Coach Kyler on Lonsbury: "We are excited to add Kennedy to the roster. Her work ethic on the field is what we are looking to add to the Vikings. Her ability as a utility player will enable us to be versatile with her in the lineup."

Alexa Sieger, 5-6, Utility, Cleveland, Ohio (Holy Name High School)

On Sieger: Currently attends Holy Name High School in Parma Heights, Ohio....lettered in softball and basketball at Holy Name...helped lead the Green Wave to three consecutive Great Lakes Conference titles in softball...was selected as the Great Lakes Conference Position Player of the Year last season...also earned First Team All-Great Lakes Conference honors...was a first team all-district selection and a second team all-county honoree...earned honorable mention all-state honors...was a Second Team All-Great Lakes Conference selection as a sophomore and an honorable mention choice as a freshman...three-time scholar athlete honoree

Coach Kyler on Sieger: "Alexa brings a strong bat to our offense and vocal leadership on defense. Her work ethic will drive teammates to excel on and off the field. We are excited she has joined the Vikings."

Jenna Watts, 5-4, P, Dublin, Ohio (Dublin Jerome High School)

On Watts: Currently attends Dublin Jerome High School in Dublin, Ohio....three-year letterwinner in softball...earned First Team All-Ohio Capital Conference honors as a junior...also selected first team all-district...selected honorable mention all-metro last season...led Central Ohio with 192 strikeouts in the circle...had a .464 batting average

Coach Kyler on Watts: "Jenna's confidence on the mound in keeping hitters off balance will complement the pitching staff very well. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the game and also to the classroom and we are looking forward to watching her grow."
