Joecken Named Horizon League Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State senior Mackenzie Joecken has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week for her performance in last week's Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic.

This is the second weekly award of the year for Joecken who was also named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 19. She is the third CSU player to earn Player of the Week honors this year, joining Macy Kaisk (Feb. 12) and Riley Ries (Feb. 19).

In six games in Hawaii last week, Joecken hit .471 (8-17) with one run, two doubles with five runs batted in. Joecken had a .588 slugging percentage and had at least one hit in five of the six games, including multiple hits in three games.

She drove in the lone run in CSU's 1-0 win over North Dakota, while also pitching a complete game, one hitter in the win.

Joecken and the Vikings are out of action until next Wednesday (March 28) when CSU hosts Niagara for a doubleheader at 2:00 pm.
