Vikings Continue Play at Bulldog Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - Cleveland State continued play at the Fresno State Bulldog Classic with two games on Saturday, falling to 17th-ranked California, 10-1, and dropping a 6-1 decision to host Fresno State.

The Vikings are now 8-10 this year.

In the opener against the nationally-ranked Bears, Mackenzie Joecken went 2-for-2 and drove in CSU's lone run with a solo homer. It was her second home run of the season. Joecken also worked 2 2/3 innings in the circle, allowing just one runner on a hit-by-pitch.

In today's second game against Fresno State, the Bulldogs got on the board in the first inning and added three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Hannah Tanis scored CSU's lone run of the game when she scored on a double play in the seventh inning.

The Vikings had seven hits against FSU, as Riley Ries and Mel Woodard both went 2-for-3. Paige Hartley, Hannah Breeden and Taylor Miokovic each had one hit.

CSU closes play in the Bulldog Classic with a 12:00 pm ET game against UC-Santa Barbara on Sunday.
