Five From CSU Softball Earn NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Five members of the Cleveland State softball team earned NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete honors as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Tuesday afternoon.

Earning the honors for CSU were Kait Gairing, Melissa Jacobsen, Marissa Marcello, Riley Ries and Hannah Tanis.

A total of 7,351 student-athletes across seven membership divisions earned the honor for the 2016-17 academic year.

To earn NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete accolades, a player must carry a GPA of 3.50 or higher during the previous academic year.

Last week, CSU was one of 149 Division I programs to earn the 2017 Easton / NFCA Division I All-Academic team award.
