Woodard, Kaisk and Gray Named to Jacksonville Invitational All-Tournament Team

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Cleveland State concluded play at the Jacksonville Invitational on Sunday, falling to St. Bonaventure, 6-1, and host Jacksonville, 13-5, in six innings.

Mel Woodard, Macy Kaisk and Bailee Gray were each named to the all-tournament team. Woodard was 5-for-11 with two doubles and two RBI in CSU's four games, while Kaisk went 5-for-11 with two homers, two RBI and a stolen base. Gray finished the four games going 5-for-13 at the play and drove in three runs.

In today's first game vs. SBU, the Bonnies scored a run in the first inning and broke the game open with five runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-0 lead.

The Vikings got on the board in the seventh on Macy Kaisk's leadoff home run, which was her team-leading third of the season.

Kaisk, Hanna Breeden and Mel Woodard had hits for CSU vs. St. Bonaventure.

Kloee Cuckler worked the final 2 2/3 innings without allowing a hit or a run and striking out two.

In the finale of the tournament vs. host Jacksonville, the Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on Bailee Gray's two-out RBI single that scored Riley Ries.

However, Jacksonville came back with five runs in the second, three more in the third and another tally in the fourth to take an 8-1 lead.

CSU clawed back with four runs in the fifth inning to pull within three runs, 8-5, as Woodard delivered a two-run double, Kaisk had an RBI groundout and Breeden followed with an RBI single.

But Jacksonville came right back with three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to end the game.

The Vikings pounded out 10 hits with Melissa Jacobsen and Gray finishing with two each.

CSU is back in action on Tuesday (March 14) when the Vikings play Indiana State at 11:30 am in Clermont, Fla.
