Tone & Kaisk Homer, But Vikings Drop First Two at Winthrop Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Aubrie Tone hit her first career home run in today's first game and Macy Kaisk hit a solo homer in game two, but Cleveland State dropped a pair of contests to open the Winthrop Invitational on Friday.

The Vikings fell to DePaul, 13-5, to open the event, and fell to host Winthrop, 9-1, in six innings in today's second game.

In today's first game, DePaul scored two runs in the second and seven in the fourth to take a 9-0 lead. CSU came back with four runs in the fifth as Hanna Breeden and Mel Woodard led off with singles and Tone followed with a three-run homer.

Sofia Johantgen scored CSU's fourth run of the inning after a double and scored on Kaisk's fielder's choice.

The Blue Demons added four runs in the seventh to conclude the scoring.

Johantgen and Kaisk both had two hits, while Melissa Jacobsen, Riley Ries, Breeden, Woodard and Tone all had one hit.

Kaisk hit a solo home run in the sixth against Winthrop for CSU's lone run of the contest.

Jacobsen went 2-for-3 in game two to lead the Vikings.

CSU concludes play in the Winthrop Invitational with two games on Saturday (March 4), playing DePaul at 12:00 pm and Winthrop at 2:00 pm.
