Vikings Top Jacksonville, 4-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Cleveland State scored three runs in the sixth inning and claimed a 4-1 win at Jacksonville in CSU's second game of the Dolphin Classic on Friday evening.

The win improved the Vikings to 6-4 this season, while Jacksonville fell to 8-10.

Susan Knight worked six innings, allowing just four hits and striking out two to earn the win and improve to 2-1 this season. Mackenzie Joecken worked the seventh inning.

The Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an unearned run and capitalized on two Jacksonville errors in the sixth inning to score three runs and extend the lead to 4-0.

Jacksonville scored two runs with two outs in the seventh before Joecken struck out Brooke Hardy to end the game.

Knight had two of CSU's five hits, while Erica McNew, Katelind Phillips and Joecken had one hit apiece.

The Vikings are back in action on Saturday when CSU plays its final two games of the Dolphin Classic. CSU plays Abilene Christian at 9:00 a.m. and Campbell at 4:30 p.m.
