Softball Drops Two at Dot Richardson Invitational

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Cleveland State softball team dropped a pair of games on Saturday afternoon at the Dot Richardson Invitational.

The Vikings fell to UT-Chattanooga, 3-0, in the morning and fell to Missouri, 4-2, in the afternoon.

CSU is now 4-3 this season.

Nena Doran went 3-for-3 against Missouri, posting three of CSU's five hits. She also scored both runs and had an RBI.

A solo home run from Doran gave CSU a 1-0 lead in the third inning, but the Tigers came right back with an unearned run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 1-1.

The Tigers took a 4-1 lead in the fifth on a three-run homer by Sami Fagan. Doran belted a two-out double in the seventh and came around to make it 4-2 on an Alisha Silva RBI single, but Cynthia Woodard lined out to centerfield to end the game.

In Saturday's first game, UT-Chattanooga scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings and CSU managed just three hits in the setback.

The Vikings close out play in Florida at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday (Feb. 15) with a game against South Dakota State.
