Nicholson Resigns as Head Softball Coach at CSU

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Angie Nicholson, who spent the last seven seasons as the head softball coach at Cleveland State, has resigned her position to accept the head softball coaching job at Eastern Illinois.

Nicholson posted a 211-152 record during her time at CSU and led the Vikings to the Horizon League regular season titles in 2008 and 2010, as well as the league tournament championship in 2009 which gave CSU the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

CSU was also the tournament runner-up under Nicholson in 2007 and 2008.

"Angie will be missed," Director of Athletics John Parry said. "Her passion for CSU softball and her players led to a successful program year in and year out. We wish her continued success at Eastern Illinois."

The Horizon League Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2010, Nicholson coached three Horizon League Players of the Year and three Pitchers of the Year during her time at CSU.

Prior to her time at CSU, Nicholson coached one season at Butler in 2006 and had one season at NAIA member Ursuline College where she increased the program's win total from three to 25 in her one season.

She began her coaching career as the head coach at Cuyahoga Community College (2000-04) where she posted 94 wins, making the Region 12 Tournament in three of four seasons.  She was the NJCAA Region 12 Coach of the Year in 2004 as her team finished sixth in the nation.

Her collegiate coaching record is 348-263-1.
