THE FIRST PITCH:
    • Cleveland State returns to action this weekend when the Vikings host Green Bay for a three-game Horizon League series at Viking Field.
    •    The series opener is slated for Friday (April 18) at 3:00 p.m. with a doubleheader on Saturday (April 19) at 10:00 a.m.
    •    The Vikings are 19-13 overall and 3-3 in the league, having won nine of their last 12 games.
    •    CSU dropped two of three in a league series at Valparaiso over the weekend and defeated UIC, 5-1, on Monday at Viking Field in a make-up game. It was the first game CSU played outside at home this year.
    •    CSU is 8-1 at home this year, with eight of those games being played in the CSU Dome.
    •    Green Bay is 16-9 overall (3-2 HL) after dropping a pair of games at Wisconsin on Wednesday. GB dropped the opener, 9-8, and game two, 5-2.
    •    The Phoenix, who are 3-4 away from home, are in the midst of a seven-game road swing.

SATURDAY IS SENIOR DAY:
    • The softball program will honor the two seniors - Janessa Rivera-Keahi and Sara Shields - on the roster in between the two games on Saturday.
    •    The duo will be playing their final regular season weekend home series.
    •    Rivera-Keahi joined CSU last year as a transfer from Monterey Peninsula College, starting all 80 games she has appeared in.
    •    She is hitting .232 with four home runs this year after hitting just one homer as a junior.
    •    Shields has been at CSU the last three years after transferring from Lake Erie College and has been a key part of the pitching staff and utility player.
    •    Shields was a second team all-league pick as a DP as a sophomore.
    •    She threw the 12th no-hitter in CSU history this year against Quinnipiac.

BROSCHK'S BIG DAY:
    • Alyson Broschk led CSU to a 5-1 win over UIC on Monday, going 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and four runs batted in.
    •    Broschk has a team-best eight-game hit streak and has reached base safely in 11 straight contests.
    •    Broschk is hitting .429 (15-35) with eight RBI over the last 11 games.
    •    She is batting .326 overall with five doubles, three homers and 19 RBI.

McNEW HEATING UP:
    • Erica McNew is batting .500 (17-34) with 10 runs, five doubles, three homers and 10 RBI over the last 12 games, helping CSU to a 9-3 mark.
    •    She was hitting .276 on March 11, but has raised her average to .359 and ranks seventh in the league.
    •    Last year's Horizon League Newcomer of the Year is hitting .359 with seven doubles, four home runs and 13 RBI.

IN THE CIRCLE:
    • CSU's pitching staff has combined to post a 2.70 ERA this year, tops in the Horizon League.
    •    The trio of Alex Radjen, Susan Knight and Sara Shields has combined to win four of the 10 Horizon League Pitcher of the Week honors this season.
