CLEARWATER, Fla. - Sara Shields threw a no-hitter in a 9-0 win over Quinnipiac and Katelind Phillips delivered the only RBI hit in a 1-0 win over Villanova as CSU won two games at the USF Under Armour Classic on Friday morning.

CSU improved to 9-6 this season and extended its win streak to three straight.

In the opener against Villanova, CSU used timely hitting, good defense and a solid pitching performance from Susan Knight to earn the 1-0 win.

Knight went the distance, giving up just four hits and striking out five to improve to 4-4. CSU was limited to just three hits in the game, but took advantage of a good scoring opportunity in the fourth for the game's only run.

Alyson Broschk drew a one out walk and Phillips followed with a ground-rule double to score Broschk with the lone run of the game.

The 9-0 win over Quinnipiac belonged to Shields as she fired the 12th no-hitter in school history and the first since Amanda Macenko no-hit Detroit on April 6, 2010. Knight's no-hitter was the fourth five-inning no-hitter at CSU.

Shields allowed just two base runners, both on walks, and faced just one over the minimum batters as one of the walks was thrown out trying to steal.

Broschk got the Vikings on the board early with an RBI single in the first and CSU exploded for six runs in the second inning which was more than enough with Shields in the circle.

Broschk had a key two-run single in the second and finished the game 3-for-3 with three RBI. Nena Doran, Knight and Cynthia Woodard had two hits each and all drove in a run.

CSU continues play in the USF Under Armour Classic with two games on Saturday. The Vikings play Boston U. at 9:00 a.m. and Boston College at 11:15 a.m.
