CLEVELAND- The Cleveland State Vikings (3-6) won their first game of the day but dropped their night cap to close out the first annual CSU Dome Invitational. The Vikings first took down Bucknell 6-2 in extra innings, before then falling to St. Bonaventure 7-2.

CSU's first game of the day was a back and forth nail-biter, as the Vikings and Bison battled to a 1-1 tie before the home team took the extra inning win in the eighth.

The Vikings first got on the board in the third inning to take the lead. Senior Dara Toman led off the inning with a well hit double to get the ball rolling. She then stole third and made it home on an error to get the 1-0 lead.

Freshman Susan Knight once again pitched strong for CSU as she kept the game tight off afternoon long. She finished the day allowing just six hit and two runs (one earned) in the eight-inning victory.

Although the Bison were able to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, the Vikings' bats once again came alive in extras as they pushed across five runs to secure the win. The Vikings used three hits, including a two RBI single from Erica McNew and aDara Toman homer in the next at bat, to pick up the five runs.

Despite the explosive finish to game one CSU was unable to translate that to their next game, falling 7-2 to the Bonnies.

The Vikings struggled in the second game, with five defensive errors putting them in a big hole. After keeping the game close at 3-1 after the first inning, the Bonnies pulled away and took a 7-1 lead and eventual 7-2 win.

An Erica McNew home-run highlighted the CSU offense in game two.
