GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Vikings out-hit Green Bay five to four and received a home run from Caila Ferro but it wasn't enough in Sunday's (April 22) series finale, a game Cleveland State dropped 4-1.

The Vikings were swept in Wisconsin and return home with an overall record of 13-34 and a 5-10 mark in Horizon League play. Green Bay evened its record at 19-19 and improved to 8-7 in the league.

After Green Bay struck for two runs off CSU starter Megan Bashak in the first inning, Ferro cut into the lead with a homer in the second.

The junior center fielder, who has battled nagging injuries all season long, belted a solo home run to left center in the top of the second inning to make it a 2-1 game. It was Ferro's second blast of the season and first since the season opener against Western Kentucky on February 10th.

Three of the four Green Bay hits came as part of a two-run fourth inning that decided the final margin. The Phoenix had the bases loaded but Bashak induced an infield groundout to end the threat and keep her team in the game.

After the Ferro homer, Salena Kauffman and Nena Doran both singled but the Vikings couldn't bring either in. Ferro singled in the fourth and Sara Shields had a base knock in the seventh but Green Bay starter Allison Goecks worked her way out of trouble. The Green Bay starter did issue four walks over the final three innings, but picked up the win to even her record at 7-7.

Aside from the Ferro home run, Goecks allowed four singles and issued five walks but did record five strikeouts.

Bashak was dealt the loss after allowing four earned runs on four hits. She walked a pair while striking out five in the process of sliding to 3-15.

Ferro led the charge offensively in the three-game series, hitting at a .500 (5-10) clip with two RBI. Kauffman was 4-for-8 (.500) while Shields was 5-for-11 (.455) with two runs scored.

By reaching on a walk in the fifth inning, Dara Toman has now reached safely in 27 consecutive games.

Cleveland State concludes the regular season with a nine-game homestand against Horizon League foes, beginning with next weekend's three-game series against Butler (April 28-29).
