CLEVELAND, Ohio - After taking yesterday's series opener against Butler, Cleveland State dropped the final two games of the series on Sunday (April 29), falling 7-5 in game one before coming up short, 8-1, in the finale.

The Vikings are now 14-36 overall and 6-12 in Horizon League play. Butler finishes the regular season 23-30 and 13-11 in the league.

Butler took a 5-0 lead off CSU starter Megan Bashak in the third inning of game one thanks to a three-run homer by Kristen Boros and a two-out, two-run single from Mallory Winters.

Cleveland State got two runs back in the bottom of the third on a two-run single from Andrea Nagy and cut into the lead on Hannah Yoe's first career home run, a two-run shot in the fourth that made it 5-4.

The Bulldogs tacked on an insurance run in both the fifth and seventh innings to widen the gap to three runs but CSU tacked on one run in the seventh when Nena Doran singled in Caila Ferro to determine the final margin.

Leah Bry, the loser in Saturday's contest, was the winner in game one. She pitched the final four innings in relief of Breanna Fisher. Fisher allowed four runs in her three innings before Bry allowed one run on four hits in the final four frames.

Bashak was handed the loss in game one. She allowed five runs on three hits in three innings before giving way to Sara Shields, who allowed two runs while striking out six in four innings of work.

Game two was a struggle for Cleveland State with Butler building a seven-run lead after two innings. Shields started in the circle and allowed four runs - only one of which was earned - in one-third of an inning. She gave way to Brittany Bate who surrendered three runs in her inning of work.

Alex Radjen pitched the final 5 2/3 innings and allowed just one run on six hits while striking out three.

CSU didn't get a hit off Fisher until the sixth inning when they had three base knocks and pushed across the only Viking run of the afternoon.

Alicia Nichols led the charge during the three-game series, finishing with a .400 (4-for-10) average. It was her infield single in the sixth that ended Fisher's no-hit bid and resulted in the lone Viking run.

Regardless, Fisher earned the win to improve her record to 5-8. She allowed two hits in the sixth before giving way to Bry who covered the last 1 2/3 innings. Shields took the loss and fell to 10-13.

The Vikings return to action when they host Detroit in a three-game series that begins on Tuesday.
