CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State junior infielder Dara Toman was named to the College Sports Madness Preseason All-Horizon League first team that was announced on Jan. 7.

"Dara has an incredible work ethic," said head coach Angie Nicholson. "She works really hard in everything that she does, whether it's on the field, in the weight room or in the classroom. Her hard work has made it possible to earn an accolade such as this one."

Toman, who split time at first and second base last season, started all 50 games for the Vikings as a sophomore while earning second team all-league honors.

She hit .284 with a team-best 10 home runs and 27 RBI in 2011. The 10 homers - which tied her for third in the Horizon League - moved her into a tie with Lia Gordon for first place on the all-time list at Cleveland State with 26.

Half of her 44 hits went for extra bases to earn her a .568 slugging percentage, the best on the team and fifth in the league.

Toman and the Vikings open the 2012 campaign on Feb. 10 against Western Kentucky in Columbia, S.C.
