SETTING THE SCENE
The Cleveland State women's soccer program continues its 2021 season on Wednesday, Feb. 10 with its first home match inside the Krenzler Bubble. The Vikings dropped their opener on the road last weekend in a tightly contested 1-0 defeat at IUPUI. Cleveland State battled throughout, narrowly trailing 5-4 in shots on goal while holding a 7-4 edge in corners. The Vikings, who were selected to finish seventh in the #HLWSOC standings as voted upon by league head coaches, are looking to build off last season's 4-4-1 mark in league play.

A WIN ON WEDNESDAY WOULD...
Give the Vikings their third consecutive victory over Wright State after defeating the Raiders in the 2018 and 2019 campaigns. It would also mark the third time in the last four years that Cleveland State began home #HLWSOC play with a win.

IT'S BEEN SOME TIME...
It had been 460 days since the Vikings last took the pitch ahead of last Wednesday's season opener at IUPUI, having not competed since Friday, Nov. 1, 2019 - a match which resulted in a 3-2 win over Horizon League rival Wright State.

YOUNG BLOOD
Several freshmen saw significant playing time in last week's season opener at IUPUI,  a squad that qualified for the Horizon League Tournament as the third seed a year ago. Midfielder Kathryn Ramicone led the way, playing 82 of 90 minutes while logging a team-high two shots on goal. Maria Bashardoust logged 75 minutes on the back end and Bella Ceepo patrolled the midfield for 79 minutes.

PICKING UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF
Goalkeeper Stevie Holbrook was solid in her season debut, stopping four of five IUPUI attempts on net for an .800 save percentage. Holbrook's lone blemish came on a quick volley in front of the net after she made the initial save and had the rebound punched out to the feet of an IUPUI attacker at the top of the 18. The senior figures to draw the majority of the playing time as the Vikings navigate a shortened conference-only season.
