Holbrook Named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Cleveland State goalie Stevie Holbrook has been selected as the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday.

Holbrook earned the award after leading the Vikings to a 1-0-1 week to start the season. Cleveland State battled to a 0-0 draw with Kent State and then topped Akron 2-1 in double overtime in its season opener on Sunday at Krenzler Field.

The junior played a major role in the Vikings tie with Kent State as she recorded a career-high 11 saves. She turned aside two shots in the final minute of the second overtime to keep the contest scoreless.

Holbrook added six more saves as the Vikings defeated Akron 2-1 in double overtime.

For the week, Holbrook had a 0.41 goals against average and notched a .944 save percentage.

This marks the second time in her career that Holbrook has been honored with the weekly award after winning the award on Aug. 20, 2018.
