Men’s Tennis & Women’s Soccer Earn HL Raise Your Sights School Awards

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced the Raise Your Sights award winners for the 2018-19 academic year Wednesday afternoon, with the men's tennis and women's soccer teams earning the accolades for Cleveland State.

Head Coach Dallas Boyer's women's soccer team posted a 3.65 GPA for the 2018-19 academic year, while head coach Brian Etzkin's men's tennis team finished with a 3.34 team GPA for the year. 

The women's soccer team posted their best season in program history last fall, and represented the only women's soccer team to earn the Raise Your Sights award during the 2018-19 academic year.

Boyer and the Vikings posted an 11-7-1 overall record during 2018, and earned a spot in the #HLWSOC championship match for the first time in program history. The team earned 42 combined Dean's List accolades for the Fall and Spring semesters, including 10 perfect 4.0s throughout both terms. 

The men's tennis team captured their seventh Horizon League Tournament title – and second straight #HLMTEN crown – this spring, and were one of three men's tennis teams to earn the Raise Your Sights award this year.

Etzkin and the Vikings finished the year with a 19-8 overall record, and appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time in program history. The team combined for 12 Dean's List honors throughout the Fall and Spring semesters.

The Raise Your Sights Award is presented annually by the Horizon League to the top academic male and female teams from each league institution that compete in a league-sponsored sport.
