Vikings Fall In 1-0 Decision At Detroit Mercy

DETROIT, Mich. – The Cleveland State women's soccer team dropped its first Horizon League match of the year Wednesday evening, dropping a heartbreaking 1-0 decision at Detroit Mercy. With the loss, the Vikings fall to 9-5-1 overall this season, and 5-1-1 in league play.

The Vikings, who were on a program record tying six-match unbeaten streak, dropped their first contest since early September, and picked up their first loss in Horizon League play.

Cleveland State was able to get eight shots on the match, including three from McKenna Vento who ranks fifth in the CSU Career Record book with 97 career shots.

Stevie Holbrook tallied five saves in goal for the Vikings, improving her season total to 53.

Detroit Mercy's winning goal came in the 65th minute, when the Titans were able to serve a long pass into the box and then beat Holbrook to the far left side of the net.

The Vikings will return home on Sunday, October 21, hosting Wright State at 1:00 p.m. in the final regular season home contest of the season. Cleveland State enters the match with a 7-1 record at Krenzler Field this season, while the Vikings will be trying for their 10th win of the year.
