Week #4

THE OPENING KICK:
• Cleveland State will close out non-league play this weekend, hosting Ohio and traveling to Canisius for the final two matches before Horizon League play begins later this month.
• The Vikings will host Ohio at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 7 and will then hit the road for a 1:00 p.m. contest at Canisius on Sunday, September 9.
• Friday's match against the Bobcats will be the 11th meeting all-time between the two teams, with Ohio owning a 5-3-2 overall record. This will also be the sixth meeting at Krenzler Field between Cleveland State and Ohio.
• Sunday's match at Canisius will also be the 11th meeting between both teams, with the Vikings owning a 6-4 record in the overall series.
• Entering Friday's contest, the Vikings own a 2-1 record at Krenzler Field this year and a 7-4 record over the last two years.

SENIOR NIGHT:
• Friday's contest against Ohio will serve as Senior Night for the Vikings, with the team honoring the nine seniors prior to the start of the match:

LAST WEEK:
• The Vikings participated in the Courtyard by Marriott UNCW Soccer Invitational, picking up a 4-0 victory against Fairleigh Dickinson and dropping a 3-0 contest against the host, UNCW.
• With the 1-1 record on the weekend, the Vikings finished second out of the four team field at the Courtyard by Marriott UNCW Soccer Invitational.
• The trio of Essence Canady, Stevie Holbrook and Sarah Krause were named to the Courtyard by Marriott UNCW Soccer Invitational All-Tournament Team.

FREE KICKS:
• Head coach Dallas Boyer, in his second season in the top spot, has been on the coaching staff for 12 of the 15 seasons in program history.
• So far this season the Vikings have had a balanced offense, as six different players have scored Cleveland State's nine goals - McKenna Vento, Jenna Prathapa, Sarah Krause, Elaina Walnoha, Essence Canady and Ja'Maya Ward.
• Last weekend, Essence Canady recorded her first collegiate goals, finishing with two in Cleveland State's 4-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson.
• The 4-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson marked the first shutout of the season for the Vikings, while the four-goal differential is tied for the largest differential in a victory since the 2015 season.
Stevie Holbrook tallied a career-high seven saves against FDU and then bettered that mark with 10 saves against UNCW.
• Entering the weekend, Dani Sowinski is tied for the Horizon League lead with four assists on the year, averaging 0.67 assists per game. Sowinski leads all Vikings in the category with her four helpers.
McKenna Vento and Jenna Prathapa have been Cleveland State's primary offensive targets this season, as both are tied for fourth in the league standings with 13 total shots on the year. Vento enters the weekend with one goal and one assist this season, while Prathapa has recorded two goals.
