Women's Soccer Announces 2018 Schedule

2018 SCHEDULE

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State head women's soccer coach Dallas Boyer announced the 2018 schedule on Friday morning. The schedule features 17 games, including the nine match Horizon League slate, as well as two exhibition games.

The Vikings kick off the season with three of their first four matches at home, including the season opener against Howard on Aug. 17. After hosting Chicago State on Aug. 19, CSU plays at Niagara on Aug. 23 before returning home to host Kent State on Aug. 26.

CSU travels to Wilmington, N.C. for a pair of matches, playing Fairleigh Dickinson on Aug. 31 and at UNC-Wilmington two days later. After hosting Ohio on Sept. 7, the Vikings close the non-league schedule with a game at Canisius on Sept. 9.

The Horizon League schedule begins on Sept. 14 with CSU hosting defending League champion IUPUI on Sept. 14 with the first League road game on Sept. 22 at Oakland. Following at Sept. 26 game at Youngstown State, the Vikings play three straight home games, hosting UIC (Sept. 29), Green Bay (Oct. 6) and Northern Kentucky (Oct. 13).

A trip to Detroit Mercy on Oct. 17 is followed by a home game against Wright State (Oct. 21) before CSU travels to Milwaukee for the regular season finale on Oct. 26.

The Horizon League Championship begins with first round games at campus sites on Oct. 29 with the semifinals and championship slated to be played at the top seed on Nov. 1 and Nov. 3.

CSU also plays two exhibition matches in the preseason, hosting Buffalo on Aug. 7 and traveling to Duquesne on Aug. 11.

Last year, Boyer led the Vikings to a 9-9-1 overall record in his first season at the helm, including a 5-4 record in the Horizon League to earn a berth in the League tournament for the first time since 2015. The nine wins were tied for the second most in program history, while the five League wins are tied for the most in a season in CSU history.
