Vikings Host Milwaukee on Friday Night for Senior Day

Week #11

THE OPENING KICK:
    •    Cleveland State returns home to host Milwaukee on Friday (Oct. 27) night in the 2017 regular season finale at Krenzler Field.
    •    The Vikings are 9-7 overall and 5-3 in the Horizon League.
    •    CSU is coming off a 1-0 win at Northern Kentucky on Saturday night, handing the Norse their first League loss of the season.
    •    Milwaukee enters with a 14-0-3 record, including a 6-0-2 mark in the League, good for first place in the League with 20 points. The Panthers defeated Youngstown State, 2-1, at home on Saturday night in overtime.
    •    The Panthers .912 win percentage in third best in the country and Milwaukee is the only team in the nation without a loss this season.

LAST WEEK:
    •    CSU split a pair of road matches last week, falling at Wright State on Wednesday (1-0) and earning a 1-0 win at League-leading Northern Kentucky on Saturday.
    •    It was the first Horizon League loss of the season for NKU.
    •    Elaina Walnoha scored the lone goal of the match just before halftime. It was her first career goal.
    •    The win clinched a spot in the Horizon League tournament for the Vikings who will be making their first appearance in the tournament since 2015.

SENIOR DAY:
    •    Friday's match against Milwaukee will serve as Senior Day as the Vikings will be playing at home for the final time in the regular season.
    •    CSU's two seniors - Katie Bainbridge and Jamie Daniels - will be honored in a pre-match ceremony.

FREE KICKS:
    •    A total of 20 different players have earned a starting assignment this year with two players - Jamie Daniels and Ashley Thiss starting all 17 games.
    •    Head coach Dallas Boyer is in his first season after serving as an assistant coach at CSU for the previous 11 years. Boyer earned his first win as a head coach with a 2-1 victory at Kent State (Aug. 20). It was CSU's second win over Kent State in 11 matches.
    •    CSU's nine wins this year are tied for the second most in a season (2010) and just one win shy of tying the 2011 team for the school record of 10 wins.
    •    The Vikings have five Horizon League wins this year, tied with the 2010 squad for the most in a season in school history.
    •    CSU's five goals against Youngstown State (Sept. 27) were the most since a 7-0 win over Chicago State on Aug. 23, 2015. It was also the most goals CSU has scored in a League game, breaking the old mark of four set four days prior against Oakland.
    •    The Vikings have scored 16 goals in League matches this year, breaking the mark old mark of eight goals in League games set in 2014 and 2016.
    •    CSU has four players with double figures in points this season (Jenna Prathapa, 15; Dani Sowinski, 12; McKenna Vento, 12; Grace Grant, 10). It's the first time in program history that more than two players have had at least 10 points.
    •    Dani Sowinski scored three goals vs. Oakland (Sept. 23), becoming the first CSU player with a hat trick since Amanda Sivic at Chicago State on Aug. 31, 2014. She is one of just four players to score three goals in a game in school history.
    •    Sowinski's five goals are second most among all players in Horizon League matches, while her 12 points are third in the League.
    •    Freshman Jenna Prathapa is sixth in the league in goals (6) and 10th in points (15).
    •    Prathapa's six goals are tied for the fourth most in a season in program history and are the most for a freshman in school history. Her 15 points are tied for the fifth most in a season in school history.
    •    Senior Katie Bainbridge dished out her 11th career assist at Green Bay (Oct. 7), moving her into a tie for second place on the all-time list at CSU with Vickie Havas (2012-15).
    •    Junior McKenna Vento has nine career assists, fourth most in CSU history, and also ranks 10th in program history with 22 career points.
    •    Senior Jamie Daniels is third in program history with 238 career saves and second with 12.5 shutouts.
    •    CSU's 25 player roster features 17 players who are in their first or second season with the Vikings. The roster has eight freshmen and eight sophomores.
    •    CSU owns wins at Kent State and Akron and against Youngstown State this year, marking the first time in program history that the Vikings have defeated all three Northeast Ohio rivals in the same season.
    •    The Vikings are closing in on several single season offensive records. CSU's 27 goals this year are one shy of tying the 2014 team which scored 28 goals. CSU's 20 assists this year are two shy of tying the 2014 squad, which registered 22 assists. This year's team has attempted 215 shots, five shy of equaling the record of 220 shots set in 2014.

UP NEXT:
    •    The Vikings begin play in the Horizon League Championship with a first round game on Monday (Oct. 30).
    •    CSU can finish anywhere from fourth through sixth in the standings.
    •    If the Vikings finish fourth, they will host a first round game on Monday night. A fifth or sixth place finish would put the Vikings on the road for Monday's first round game.
    •    The complete bracket will be announced at the conclusion of all League games on Friday night.
