Vikings Hold Large Advantage in Shots, But Fall at Wright State, 1-0

FAIRBORN, Ohio - Cleveland State held a 19-9 advantage in shots, but Wright State used an early goal and held off a potent Viking offensive attack to earn a 1-0 win on Wednesday night at Alumni Field.

The Vikings fell to 8-8 overall and 4-3 in the Horizon League, while WSU improved to 9-7 overall (4-3 HL).

The Raiders scored the lone goal of the match just five minutes in when Mattie Cutts scored her third goal of the season. It was the only shot on goal for the Raiders the entire match.

CSU dominated in every statistical category, out-shooting the Raiders, 19-9, and holding a 6-1 lead in shots on goal. In addition, the Vikings took 10 corner kicks to five for Wright State.

Aliani Lorenzo led the Vikings with five shots, while Jenna Prathapa and McKenna Vento took four shots each and Dani Sowinski had three.

CSU is back in action on Saturday (Oct. 21) when the Vikings travel to Northern Kentucky for their final road match of the regular season. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 pm.
