CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State erupted for five first half goals en route to a 5-1 victory over Youngstown State on Wednesday night at Krenzler Field.
The Vikings improved to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in the Horizon League, while YSU fell to 4-7-1 overall (0-3 HL).

THE GOALS
- The Penguins took a 1-0 lead just 5:24 into the match on a goal from Alison Green, but the Vikings came back with five unanswered goals to take a 5-1 lead at the half.
- McKenna Vento knotted the game at 1-1 at the 7:04 mark when she headed in a cross from Jenna Prathapa. It was Vento's third goal of the season.
- Just over two mintues later, the Vikings took a 2-1 lead when Aliani Lorenzo scored her second goal of the season off a cross from Briana Nidermeier.
- CSU extended the lead to 3-1 in the 27th minute when Toni Dickson netted her first goal off the season off a corner kick by Ashley Thiss.
- Dani Sowinski scored the final two goals of the half for CSU with tallies in the 29th and 37th minutes. Elaina Walnoha recorded the assist on Sowinski's second goal.
- Sowinski has now scored five goals over the last two matches. She is the reigning Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week after recording a hat trick in Saturday's victory over Oakland.

- CSU's five goals were the most in a match since a 7-0 win over Chicago State (Aug. 25, 2015).
- The five goals were also the most in a Horizon League match in school history.
