Week #7

THE OPENING KICK:
    •    Cleveland State returns to action with a pair of matches this week, hosting Youngstown State at 7:00 pm on Wednesday (Sept. 27) and traveling to UIC on Saturday (Sept. 30) for an 8:00 pm ET match.
    •     The Vikings are 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the Horizon League after a 4-2 win over Oakland on Saturday night.
    •    YSU is 4-6-1 overall and 0-2 in the Horizon League, while UIC enters the week at 2-9 overall and 0-2 in the League and travels to IUPUI on Wednesday night.
    •    CSU is 8-5-1 all-time against YSU, including a 2-1 victory last year in Youngstown. The Vikings are 1-2 in program history vs. UIC, falling to the Flames, 2-1 last season.

LAST WEEK:
    •    The Vikings earned their first League victory of the season with a 4-2 win over Oakland on Saturday night at Krenzler Field.
    •    Dani Sowinski scored three goals, including two in the first half, as the Vikings raced out to a 3-1 lead after 45 minutes. She also scored on a penalty kick in the 68th minute after being taken down in the box.
    •    Jenna Prathapa scored a goal and had an assist, while McKenna Vento and Aliani Lorenzo also scored goals.

FREE KICKS:
    •    A total of 19 different players have earned a starting assignment this year with three players - Jamie Daniels, Essence Canady and Ashley Thiss starting all 11 games.
    •    Head coach Dallas Boyer is in his first season after serving as an assistant coach at CSU for the previous 11 years. Boyer earned his first win as a head coach with a 2-1 victory at Kent State (Aug. 20). It was CSU's second win over Kent State in 11 matches.
    •    CSU's four goals against Oakland were the most since a 7-0 win over Chicago State on Aug. 23, 2015.
    •    Dani Sowinski scored three goals vs. Oakland (Sept. 23), becoming the first CSU player with a hat trick since Amanda Sivic at Chicago State on Aug. 31, 2014.
    •    Sowinski joins Sivic, Jamie Avona and Ashley Walchack as the only players in school history with three goals in a game.
    •    Freshman Jenna Prathapa is tied for third in the League in goals (6) and points (14).
    •    Prathapa's six goals are tied for the fourth most in a season in program history and are the most for a freshman in school history.
    •    Junior McKenna Vento has seven career assists, tied for sixth in CSU history.
    •    Senior Katie Bainbridge is tied for third in school history with 10 career assists, one shy of moving into a tie for second place with Vickie Havas (2012-15).
    •    Senior Jamie Daniels is fourth in program history with 220 career saves and third with 10 shutouts. She is two shutouts shy of moving past Sarah Wood (2011-15) into second place for most career shutouts.
    •    Sophomore Aliani Lorenzo returns to the lineup after playing in just six games last year before an injury cut her season short. Lorenzo scored three goals with one assist in her six matches last year. She has a goal and an assist this year.
    •    CSU's 25 player roster features 17 players who are in their first or second season with the Vikings. The roster has eight freshmen and eight sophomores.
    •    CSU owns wins at Kent State and Akron this year, marking the first time in program history that the Vikings have defeated both NE Ohio rivals in the same season.
