Week #6

THE OPENING KICK:
    •    Cleveland State returns home to host Oakland in the first Horizon League home match of the season on Saturday (Sept. 23) at 7:00 pm at Krenzler Field.
    •    The Vikings are 4-6 overall and 0-1 in the Horizon League after falling at IUPUI, 1-0, in overtime in the League opener on Friday (Sept. 15).
    •    Oakland is 0-9-1 overall (0-1 HL) and dropped two matches last week, including a 1-0 setback at Green Bay in the Horizon League opener.
    •    CSU is 1-3-1 all-time against Oakland, including an 0-2 mark at Krenzler Field. The Vikings won last year's meeting, 3-2, in Rochester as Ashley Thiss scored the game-winner two minutes into overtime.

LAST WEEK:
    •    The Vikings dropped the Horizon League opener, 1-0, in overtime at IUPUI on Friday night. The Jaguars scored the game-winner six minutes into overtime.
    •    The game was the first Horizon League contest for IUPUI, which joined the League in June.
    •    CSU held a 20-11 advantage in shots, including 7-4 in shots on goal, and took eight corner kicks to three for IUPUI.

FREE KICKS:
    •    A total of 19 different players have earned a starting assignment this year with three players - Jamie Daniels, Essence Canady and Ashley Thiss starting all 10 games.
    •    Head coach Dallas Boyer is in his first season after serving as an assistant coach at CSU for the previous 11 years. Boyer earned his first win as a head coach with a 2-1 victory at Kent State (Aug. 20). It was CSU's second win over Kent State in 11 matches.
    •    CSU's roster features just two seniors in midfielder Katie Bainbridge and goalkeeper Jamie Daniels.
    •    Bainbridge is tied for third in school history with 10 career assists. She is one assist shy of moving into a tie for second place with Vickie Havas (11 assists from 2012-15).
    •    Daniels is fourth in program history with 220 career saves and third with 10 shutouts. She is two shutouts shy of moving past Sarah Wood (2011-15) into second place for most career shutouts.
    •    Freshman Jenna Prathapa is tied for second in the Horizon League in goals (5) and is fourth in points (11).
    •    Prathapa's five goals are tied for the fifth most in a season in program history and are tied for the most in a season by a CSU freshman (Vickie Havas, 2012; Natalie Daniels, 2008).
    •    Junior McKenna Vento has six career assists, tied for eighth in school history.
    •    Sophomore Aliani Lorenzo returns to the lineup after playing in just six games last year before an injury cut her season short. Lorenzo scored three goals with one assist in her six matches last year. She scored a goal in CSU's season opener at Xavier.
    •    CSU's 25 player roster features 17 players who are in their first or second season with the Vikings. The roster has eight freshmen and eight sophomores.
    •    CSU owns wins at Kent State and Akron this year, marking the first time in program history that the Vikings have defeated both Northeast Ohio rivals in the same season.

UP NEXT:
    •    The Vikings play two matches next week, starting with a 7:00 pm match against Youngstown State on Wednesday (Sept. 27) at 7:00 pm at Krenzler Field.
    •    CSU will also travel to UIC on Saturday (Sept. 30) for an 8:00 pm ET match.
