CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State head women's soccer coach Dallas Boyer has announced the addition of two transfers to the program and will begin play in the 2017 season. Joining the program are Sydney Duggan (Grafton, Ohio) and Kailah Ransom (Copley, Ohio).

Duggan arrives at CSU after spending the last two seasons at Oakland where she appeared in 31 career games, starting five times, with three goals and one assist. She scored a goal in the Golden Grizzlies win over Valparaiso in the first round of the Horizon League Championship.

Duggan was a four-year letterwinner for head coach Gretchen Micklitsch at Magnificat HS. She was a team captain, offensive MVP and leading scorer as a senior when she led the squad to an appearance in the state semifinals. Duggan was a first team all-district and honorable mention all-state honoree in high school.

"Sydney comes home to Cleveland where she had an accomplished high school and club career," Boyer said.  "She has the unique experience of playing at another Horizon League program, so she brings a proven track record of scoring goals against League opponents. She's a dynamic athlete with good speed and has the rare skill set to check back in and play as a target forward with good feet combined with the speed and anticipation to make good runs forward to be played thru. She's already shown herself as a real threat in the early spring games, creating several good chances for herself and others and I expect that to only grow as she gets more comfortable with what we are doing and the teammates around her."

Ransom spent her freshman season at Chicago State where she started all 17 games and logged a team-high 1,482 minutes as a defender.

She was a standout at Copley HS, earning the team's Defensive Player of the Year Award her senior year after leading the squad to six shutouts. Ransom scored two goals with one assist, helping the team capture the league title and advance to the district semifinals. Ransom was an honorable mention all-league pick and received the league's Scholar-Athlete Award all four seasons.

"Kailah's addition was much needed in a position that we were hit hard by injuries and graduation," Boyer said. "The ability to add a young central defender that already has a season's worth of experience made for a perfect fit.  In a role that requires constant decision-making and communication to the several players around her, it was a lot to ask of a new player to step in and immediately become the vocal leader of a group she was unfamiliar with. But Kailah was able to do it because her work rate and professional approach immediately earned the respect of the group."
