CLEVELAND, Ohio - Dallas Boyer, who has served as an assistant coach at Cleveland State for the last 10 seasons and the interim head coach since Nov. 10, has been named the head coach of the CSU women's soccer program, effective January 3. Director of Athletics John Parry made the announcement on Wednesday.
"I'd like to thank Director of Athletics John Parry and the rest of the athletics department staff for this opportunity," Boyer said. "Cleveland State University and the women's soccer program in particular have meant so much to me and my family over the last several years, so to be able to lead it in its next phase is a great honor.
"I look forward to working with a great group of student-athletes and a committed coaching staff to continue towards our goals of creating a program that represents the values and expectations of CSU both on and off the field."
"Dallas will provide stability and excellent leadership for the CSU women's soccer program," Parry said. "He truly has earned this opportunity and I am confident about the future of the program."
Boyer has served as the assistant coach at CSU since 2007, helping 15 players earn All-Horizon League honors, and eight players garner spots on the Horizon League All-Newcomer team. In addition, seven players have earned All-Ohio accolades with Boyer on staff.
Administratively, Boyer organized all the team travel, planned and conducted training sessions, recruited high school prospects and oversaw the academic standards for the program which earned the NSCAA Academic Award from 2007-16.
Since 2015, Boyer has served as the Director and Coach of Puma Elite Powered by Arsenal, a technical training program provided by the Arsenal FC club in England. The club is one of just three partnerships in the United States which helps identify, train and evaluate the country's best young talent.
In addition, Boyer has been one of six coaches for the U.S. Soccer Youth National Team's Regional Training Center since 2013, helping to identify, train and evaluate the best female players in the region for future inclusion in the national team's roster pool.
As an undergraduate at Miami (OH), Boyer worked with the school's Youth M-League, coaching in the 8-10 year old boys league for three seasons. He graduated cum laude in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in adolescent integrated social studies.
Boyer returned to the Cleveland area after graduating, earning Greater Cleveland Assistant Coach of the Year honors at Parma HS in 2005 and helping the program earn the Greater Cleveland Division 1 Team Sportsmanship Award the following year.
Boyer is currently pursuing his Master's in Sports Management from CSU and is expected to earn that degree in the summer of 2018.
He is an active member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and has a National "C" coaching license and an NSCAA Regional Goalkeeper Diploma.
