THE OPENING KICK:
    •    Cleveland State continues its early season road swing with a pair of matches this weekend.
    •    The Vikings will travel to Canisius for a 7:00 pm match on Friday (Aug. 26) and head to Niagara on Sunday (Aug. 28) for a 1:00 pm contest.
    •    The two matches will conclude a stretch of four straight road matches for CSU to open the season.
    •    CSU is 4-4 all-time against Canisius, including a 2-0 victory at Krenzler Field last year.
    •    The Vikings are 0-3-1 all-time vs. Niagara, playing to a 0-0 draw in 2014 in the last meeting.

RECAPPING LAST WEEK:
    •    CSU opened the season with a pair of matches in Washington, D.C. last weekend.
    •    The Vikings dropped their season opener, 2-1, on Friday (Aug. 19) at Howard and lost at George Washington, 2-1, on Sunday (Aug. 21) afternoon.
    •    Katie Bainbridge scored CSU's goal in the setback at Howard, while Kaila Sargema scored off an assist from Aliani Lorenzo at George Washington.
    •    Jamie Daniels made two saves in each match, playing all 90 minutes in the net in both contests.
    •    It was the first-ever meeting between CSU and both Howard and George Washington in women's soccer.

FREE KICKS:
    •    The Vikings started five freshmen and three sophomores in the season opener at Howard.
    •    Freshmen KK Smith, Aliani Lorenzo, Bianca Sarti, Elaina Walnoha and Briana Niedermeier all started their first collegiate match.
    •    Sargema's goal at George Washington was the 13th of her career, moving her into a tie for third place on the all-time list at CSU with Sylvia Olsby (2007-10).
    •    She also moved into a tie for fifth place on the all-time points list at CSU  with 30. Sargema is just five points shy of moving past Jennifer Wieand (2004-08) and into third place on the list.
    •    Sophomore Ashley Thiss was named to the Horizon League All-Freshman team last year. She totaled three points on one goal and an assist during her first season and started both matches last weekend.
    •    McKenna Vento dished out five assists last year during her first season at CSU. The five assists were tied for the third most in a season in school history and the most by a CSU player since Natalie Daniels tallied six assists in 2011.
    •    Vento's five career assists are already tied for 10th in CSU history.
    •    CSU's 28 player roster features 19 student-athletes who are in their first or second season at Cleveland State. There are 10 freshmen and 9 sophomores on this year's roster.
