Abram Earns Women's Soccer Academic All-District Recognition

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State senior women's soccer defender Sabrina Abram has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Five first team, the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday (Oct. 30).

A mechanical engineering major, Abram now advances to the Academic All-America team ballot. That team will be announced Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Abram has anchored a CSU defense this year, which has allowed a CSU single season low 17 goals this year. The unit has posted seven shutouts, tying the school record for most in a season.

In addition, she has scored one goal and dished out an assist.

Abram has earned CSU's Academic Excellence Award in each of her three seasons and has been on the Horizon League Honor Roll.

To be eligible for the award, nominated student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, in his/her second year at the current institution and must have played in at least 50 percent of the team's games.

The Vikings concluded the regular season with an 8-8-2 overall record and are awaiting the results of Friday's league matches to see if they qualify for the league tournament.
