Sivic Nets Hat Trick in 6-0 Win at Chicago State

CHICAGO, Ill. - Amanda Sivic netted the third hat trick in program history and Sonia Curvelo earned her first victory as head coach at Cleveland State as the Vikings earned a 6-0 victory at Chicago State on Sunday afternoon.

The six goals tied the school record for goals in a game, tying the six tallies against Delaware State on Aug. 27, 2006.

Both teams are now 1-3 this season.

Sivic joined Ashley Walchak and Jaime Avona as the only players in CSU women's soccer history with hat tricks. Avona was the last to do it with three tallies at IUPUI on Aug. 24, 2012.

The Vikings dominated play all afternoon, attempting a school record 35 shots, bettering the old mark of 25 shots against Delaware State on Aug. 27, 2006. CSU had 14 shots on goal today.

Sivic gave the Vikings an early 1-0 lead with a penalty kick in the 11th minute and came right back with her second goal of the contest at the 22:40 mark after taking a through ball from Megan Barrick.

Chloe Fadenholz made it 3-0 just three minutes later when she netted a goal from 15 yards out off a Haleigh Shingary assist.

The Vikings wasted little time adding to the lead in the second half as Ainhoa Weber scored her first collegiate goal on an 8-yard volley off a corner kick after Allie Sieradzki headed the ball down to her foot.

Kelcey Fischer made it 5-0 with a 20-yard strike in the 53rd minute off an assist from Weber and Sivic finished her day with her third goal of the afternoon with three minutes left.

All 16 players were able to play at least 50 minutes, while Sarah Wood, Jane Piontkowski and Jamie Daniels combined to make four saves for the shutout.

CSU is back in action on Tuesday (Sept. 2) when the Vikings host Akron at 7:00 p.m. at Krenzler Field.
