Women's Soccer Signs Three to NLI's

CLEVELAND, Ohio - First-year Cleveland State women's soccer coach Sonia Curvelo announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday afternoon.

Joining the women's soccer program beginning in the fall of 2014 will be Katie Bainbridge (Brookpark, Ohio), Jamie Daniels (Fairfield, Ohio) and Payton Lewis (Mentor, Ohio).

A four-year letterwinner at Berea-Midpark H.S., Bainbridge totaled 41 goals and 42 assists in her career. As a senior, she amassed 21 goals and 16 assists, earning first team all-conference and all-Greater Cleveland accolades, while also being named the conference MVP. She was a first team all-conference pick as a junior after scoring 11 goals with nine assists and earned honorable mention all-conference honors as a freshman and second team honors as a sophomore.

Bainbridge, who served as a team captain, played in the Greater Cleveland District All-Star game after her junior season when she led the team to the district semifinals.

Daniels joins the CSU program after a four-year career at Fairfield H.S. where she was a three-year starter in goal, leading her squad to a 31-10-13 record. Daniels helped lead her team to the conference championship during her sophomore and senior seasons, including a sectional title and district runner-up finish in 2013.

An all-conference selection as a junior and senior, Daniels posted a career save percentage of .910 and was the league leader in shutouts in each of her final two seasons. An all-conference pick as a junior and senior, Daniels set the school record with 21 career shutouts and served as a team captain.

Lewis earned four letters as a midfielder at Mentor H.S., helping the team to the district title in each of her final three seasons. Lewis, who tallied 12 goals and 30 assists in her career, was a first team all-conference, all-area and second team All-Ohio choice following her senior campaign.

An honorable mention all-conference selection as a junior, Lewis was also a first team all-conference pick as a freshman and sophomore. She played in the all-Cleveland All Star Game and the Ohio Varsity All-Star Soccer Classic after her senior year.
