Cleveland State Women's Soccer 10-Year Anniversary Team

The Cleveland State women's soccer team is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a program in 2013. Over the last 10 years, many players have helped build the program from the ground up. Throughout the month of September, CSU will celebrate 11 of the top players who have been part of the program. The players will be announced in alphabetical order beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 4, and continue on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the month.

PLAYER #1

JAIME AVONA • 2009-12 • MIDFIELD • BOARDMAN, OHIO

Jaime Avona was a mainstay in the CSU midfield during her four-year career, helping CSU to its best season in program history in 2011 with 10 wins. A second team All-Horizon League pick as a senior, Avona concluded her career ranked fifth in school history in goals (9) and points (22).

Avona did not miss a game in her career, playing in all 70 contests with 68 starts, the 10th most in program history.

Avona is one of just two players in program history to record a hat trick, accomplishing the feat with three goals in a 5-1 win at IUPUI on Aug. 24, 2012, en route to Horizon League Player of the Week honors.

As a senior, Avona was honored with the President's Award as the graduating senior student-athlete with the highest grade point average. Avona has a 3.85 GPA with a Health Science and Pre-Physicians Assistant major.
