CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State senior midfielder Jaime Avona (Boardman, Ohio) has been selected as the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in CSU's two wins last week.

Avona scored two goals, both game-winners, and had an assist to help the Vikings to wins over Green Bay and Francis Marion.

In Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Phoenix in which CSU picked up a key three points in the league ledger, Avona headed in a corner kick from Vickie Havas in the 102nd minute for a Golden Goal.

She came back in Saturday's 4-1 win over Francis Marion to net the second goal of the match, once again off a corner kick, and added an assist.

Avona's five points allowed her to move up to third place in the Horizon League with 12 points this season. She is tied for second in the league with five goals - along with Havas.

For Avona, it is her second Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week honor this year. She also earned the award after recording a hat trick in a win at IUPUI in late August.

The Vikings (5-8, 1-2 HL) are back in action on Wednesday (Oct. 10) night when CSU travels to Youngstown State for a 7:00 p.m. match.
