CLEVELAND, OH- The Cleveland State University women's soccer team fell behind early and never could climb back up the mountain in a 5-1 loss to Wright State University on Saturday (Oct. 20) evening at Krenzler Field.

With the loss, Cleveland State dipped to 6-10 overall and 2-4 in the Horizon League. Wright State heads back to Fairborn, Ohio with a 7-3-6 record and a 2-1-3 mark in league play.

The Raiders took the lead in the sixth minute of the match on Kalee Thompson's second goal of the season. WSU's Liz Soto brought the ball down the right side and found Thomspon in front of the net.

That goal remained the only score of the contest until Natalie Sedlcok provided Wright State with some breathing room. Her first goal of the season - this time on an assist from Thompson - gave the Raiders a 2-0 lead after 21 minutes.

Ini Umotong widened the gap with her team-best seventh goal of the year in the 28th minute before the Vikings got on the board.

After the Raiders were whistled for a handball in the box in the 39th minute, senior Val Stahl was awarded a penalty kick and tacked on CSU's first and only goal. The penalty kick was Cleveland State's first attempt of the season and resulted in the third goal of 2012 for Stahl.

Not even a minute later, Wright State answered with an Emilie Fillion goal and the Raiders tacked on one more for good measure when Adrianna Guerrero scored in the 64th minute to decide the final margin.

Wright State attempted 16 shots in the match while Cleveland State blasted 10, four of which were on target.

The Vikings are back in action on Friday (Oct. 26) when they head to Milwaukee for a league matchup with the Panthers. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
