Women's Soccer Tabbed Fifth in Preseason Poll

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Cleveland State women's soccer team was picked to finish fifth in the 2012 Horizon League Preseason Poll that was released on Wednesday morning.

The Vikings, who return eight starters and 15 letterwinners from last year's team that won a school-record 10 games, finished with 24 points in the poll.

Milwaukee and Detroit each received 44 points to tie for first place. Milwaukee received five of the eight first place votes, while the Titans earned the other three.

Valparaiso was tabbed third with 35 points and Wright State fourth with 34 points. CSU (24 points), Loyola (23), Green Bay (12) and Youngstown State (8) rounded out the poll.

The Vikings continue their stretch of three exhibition matches this week when CSU hosts Oakland at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday (Aug. 9) at Krenzler Field. The Vikings then host Buffalo on Sunday (Aug. 12) at 2:00 p.m.

The regular season opener is next Friday (Aug. 17) at 7:00 p.m. against Kent State at Krenzler Field.
