DETROIT, Mich. - Detroit used a pair of second half goals late in the contest to turn a scoreless draw into a 2-0 victory over Cleveland State in Horizon League women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon.

CSU slipped to 5-10 overall and 1-4 in the league, while Detroit improved to 7-6-1 this season and 4-2 in league action, moving the Titans into first place in the league standings with 12 points.

"I thought we played them very even for the first 70 minutes or so and they took advantage of some things to score their two goals," head coach Derrek Falor said. "I thought the wind was a huge factor today and we were not able to take advantage of it in the first half when we had it at our backs. We had some good chances, but couldn't connect."

After a scoreless first half, Detroit got on the board at the 76:11 mark, scoring the game's first goal off a corner kick when Sarah Dzuris knocked in the kick from Rebekah Dornbos.

"It was a close call down on the end line as to who the ball went out on, but they got the corner kick and took advantage of it in that situation," Falor said. "You have to give them credit for seizing an opportunity there."

The Titans made it 2-0 less than four minutes later when Abby McCollum tapped in a pass from Kaitlyn Quarrell. The play began when Quarrell took the ball deep inside the box to the left post. Sarah Wood came out to challenge, but Quarrell was able to play the ball in front of the net, where McCollum knocked it in.
