INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State senior women's soccer player Jaime Avona (Boardman, Ohio) has been honored as the Horizon League Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 20-26.

Avona earned the honor after netting a hat trick in CSU's 5-1 win over IUPUI on Friday (Aug. 24). The midfielder scored CSU's second, third and fifth goals of the game, helping the Vikings to their second highest scoring output in program history.

Avona's hat trick was just the second in the nine year history of the CSU women's soccer program, joining Ashley Walchack who accomplished the feat against Delaware State on Aug. 27, 2006.

Through two weeks of the season, Avona is tied for the league lead with three goals and is third with six points, while her seven career goals now rank sixth in program history.

The Vikings are back in action on Sunday (Sept. 2) when CSU heads to Canisius for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
