Vikings to Start Spring Season at Islander Classic

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State Vikings women's golf team will begin their spring season on Monday (Feb. 24) at the Islander Classic. This two-day tournament will take place at the Corpus Christi Country Club, located in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Cleveland State is one of 14 teams competing at the Islander Classic. The other teams are as follows: Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Sam Houston State, Houston Baptist, Troy, Southern Illinois, Incarnate Word, UTRGV, Stephen F. Austin, McNeese State, Creighton, Cleveland State, Prairie View A&M, Texas A&M University – Kingsville, McLennan Community College

The first and second rounds will be played on Monday, Feb. 24 and the final round will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Shotgun start will begin at 9:30 ET both days.

It was announced last week (Feb. 19) that the Vikings were selected to finish fifth in the Horizon League Women's Golf Preseason Poll, as voted on by conference head coaches.

Leading the way for the Vikings this season are seniors Kaylee Neumeister and Rayna Oosterhuis.

Junior Madison Butler, who was a 2019 Second Team All-Horizon League member, had a solid fall season for Cleveland State, notching a team-high tying 76.0 average, with six top 20 finishes, including two finishes inside the top 10. Fellow junior Ashley Knight also compiled a 76.0 average, with five top 20 finishes.
