DAY ONE RECAP

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- Sophomore Madison Butler is tied for first place after shooting a 75 in the opening round of the Horizon League Championship on Sunday on the Las Colinas Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club.

Butler, a Second Team All-Horizon League selection, shot a two-over par 75 over her opening 18 holes of competition. She recorded birdies on the fourth and 18th holes, which helped her sit atop the standings with Maddie Zack and Veronica Haque of Oakland.

Ashley Knight is also in the top five after day one as she shot a three-over par 76 and is tied for fourth place. Knight had four birdies during her round as she went under par on the third and fourth holes and the 15th and 16th holes.

Led by Butler and Knight, Cleveland State is third in the team standings with a score of 318. IUPUI and Oakland are tied for first after the opening round with a score of 311.

Grace Zimmerman fired an 82 and is tied for 18th overall, while Meg Rossouw shot an 85 on day one of the tournament which was good for 26th place.

Kaylee Neumeister shot an 86 and tied for 29th place in the individual standings.

Day two of the tournament will be held on Monday (April 22) at the par-73, 6,087-yard Las Colinas Course.
