Vikings Set to Close Fall Season at MAC Preview

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State University women's golf team will conclude the fall portion of its schedule Sunday, Oct. 14, and Monday, Oct. 15, at the MAC Fall Preview.

Hosted by Central Michigan this year, the tournament is being held at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind., site of the 2019 Mid-American Conference Championship. The 54-hole event will take place at the par-72, 6,125-yard layout. Live scoring will be available through GolfStat or at the link at the top of this article.

The teams will be play a continuous 36 holes Sunday with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. The final 18 holes will be played Monday with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start. Twelve teams will be competing in the tournament, including eight from the MAC. The field includes: Akron, Ball State, Belmont, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Cleveland State, Eastern Michigan, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Toledo, Western Michigan and Xavier.

The MAC Fall Preview has been held many times in recent years at the site of the spring MAC Championship. CSU has competed at the event five times within the past decade, most recently in 2015 when the event was also at Purgatory. The Vikings shot 998 as a team at that 2015 event.

Cleveland State took second place of 10 teams last time out at Eastern Michigan's Shirley Spork Invitational. It was a six-place improvement in the event for the Vikings from last year as CSU shot 615 (302-313) over the 36 holes.

Sophomore Madison Butler was CSU's top finisher for the fourth straight event last time out as her 74-73 left her in a tie for third. It was the third time in four tournaments this season that she tied for third place. Butler leads the team with her 74.7 strokes per round average.

Junior Kaylee Neumeister opened with a -2 (70) last time out and finished in a tie for fifth place, her second top-10 of the season. She is second on the team with her 77.1 scoring average.

The Vikings have a 309.9 team scoring average entering their fifth and final event of the fall portion of the season.
