Women's Golf to Host Sand Ridge Shootout on Friday

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's golf team will host the Sand Ridge Shoout on Friday (April 13) beginning at 11:00 am. In addition to CSU, the field will include Bowling Green, Niagara and Youngstown State with teams playing a single round of 18 holes.

Sand Ridge GC is located at 12150 Mayfield Road in Chardon and results will be available on Golfstat and CSUVikings.com at the conclusion of the tournament.

This will be CSU's final event ahead of the Horizon League Championship which will run from April 22-24 in Florida. Last year, the Vikings claimed the first League title in program history.

The Vikings were last in action over the weekend, tying for sixth place out of 16 teams at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational hosted by Bowling Green. CSU shot rounds of 316 and 311 and was just six shots out of third place as the Vikings were the highest finishing Horizon League team of the five at the event.

Senior Emily Turski posted her first top-10 finish of the season as she tied for 10th place with back-to-back rounds of 76 for a 152 total. She was the top finisher from a Horizon League school. Sophomore Kaylee Neumeister tied for 19th place at 154 (78-76), while freshman Amanda Baker tied for 32nd place with roundsof 80-79 (159). 

Neumeister leads the team with a 78.7 scoring average this year and is attempting to become the first player in program history to post scoring averages under 80.0 in each of her first two seasons. She averaged 78.1 last year, which was the third lowest for a season in school history.

Freshman Madison Butler has a 78.9 average this year, while freshman Amanda Baker (80.3), freshman Ashley Knight (80.6), Turski (81.0) and senior Sophie Kelner (81.5) round out the squad.

Neumeister's career average of 78.3 is tops in program history, while Kelner ranks fourth in school history with an 80.6 scoring average.
