Vikings Tied for Seventh After Opening Round at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Cleveland State opened the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational with a first round 316 and is tied for seventh place out of 16 teams. The event began on Saturday at the par-72, 5,829-yard Stone Ridge GC.

Playing in cold, windy conditions with wind chills that barely reached 30 degrees, the Vikings grinded to a tie for seventh place after the first round and are just 10 shots out of second place. Toledo leads the field after an opening round 304, while Ball State and Indianapolis are tied for second, just two shots back. Eastern Michigan is in fourth place after a 308, while Findlay and Ohio are tied for fifth place at 311, five shots ahead of CSU and UIC who are tied for seventh place.

Three other Horizon League teams are in the field with Oakland in 11th place at 321, Youngstown State in 12th place at 331 and Detroit Mercy in 15th place after a 341.

Senior Emily Turski led the Vikings with a 76 today and is tied for 11th place. Turski's 76 was also the second lowest round by a Horizon League player today.

Sophomore Kaylee Neumeister is tied for 22nd place after a 78, while freshman Amanda Baker shot 80 and is tied for 37th place. Freshman Madison Butler is tied for 52nd place after an 82, while freshman Ashley Knight shot 84 and is tied for 62nd place.

Senior Sophie Kelner shot 85 as an individual and is tied for 68th.

The final round of the tournament will be played on Sunday.
