CSU WOMEN'S GOLF NOTES

  • The Cleveland State women's golf team will make its first appearance at the NCAA regionals in program history when the Vikings compete at the Scarlet Course in Columbus from Monday (May 8) through Sunday (May 10).
  • CSU will tee off on the 10th tee between 9:09 am and 9:45 am on Monday (May 8).
    Teams will be re-paired on Tuesday (May 9) and Wednesday (May 10) based on scores.
  • The Vikings claimed their first Horizon League Championship in school history (April 23-25) in Florida.
  • An opening round 319 put CSU in fourth place after the first round, but the Vikings shot a tournament-best 302 in round two to take the lead and a final round 307 helped the Vikings top runner-up Youngstown State by three shots.Sophomore Rayna Oosterhuis was the runner-up at the League championship, carding rounds of 74-74-75 for a 54 hole total of 223.
  • Her first two rounds of 74 were a career-low.
  • Freshman Kaylee Neumeister earned a spot on the All-Horizon League first team after ranking third in the League with a 77.6 scoring average.
  • Neumeister's 77.6 scoring average is currently the second lowest for a season in school history, topped only by Allyson Hackman's 77.4 scoring average in 2014-15 and 2015-16.
  • Junior Sophie Kelner was selected to the All-Horizon League second team. She ranks second on the team and seventh in the League with a 79.3 scoring average.
  • CSU won two events this year, claiming the second win in school history at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational (Sept. 26-27) and defeated Oakland and Youngstown State in a tri-meet in Florida on Feb. 21.
  • The Vikings shot a season-low round of 301 during the final round of the EKU Colonel Classic, playing with just four players. It was the second lowest round in program history.
  • CSU's second round of 302 at the Horizon League Championship was the third lowest round in school history.
  • As a team, the Vikings are averaging 315.4 this year, which ranks as the lowest for a season in school history. The 2012-13 team holds the record with a 320.0 average.

KAYLEE NEUMEISTER | FRESHMAN | CORTLAND, OHIO
Named to the All-Horizon League first team after playing all 25 rounds... leads the team and ranks third in the League with a 77.6 scoring average... her scoring average is the second lowest in a season in school history (Allyson Hackman; 77.4 in 2014-15 & 2015-16)... has CSU's lone round of par or better this year, shooting a 70 in opening round of Western Michigan Invitational (Oct. 3)... has four top-five finishes and six top-10's this year... finished third at YSU Kickoff (Sept. 5-6) in her first collegiate event... tied for fourth at Golden Grizzlies Invitational (Sept. 26-27), helping CSU to team title... shared medalist honors in tri-meet with Oakland and Youngstown State (Feb. 21) with a 73... placed sixth at Horizon League Championship with rounds of 76-77-78 (231).

SOPHIE KELNER | JUNIOR | CARMEL, IND.
Voted to All-Horizon League second team... second on the team and seventh in the League with a 79.3 scoring average... has played in all 25 rounds... her scoring average is the fifth lowest in a season in school history... fired a season-low round of 73 in final round of EKY Colonel Classic (April 1)... has a pair of top-five finishes and five top-10's this year... tied for fourth at season opening YSU Kickoff (Sept. 5-6)... had back-to-back sixth place finishes at Golden Grizzlies Invitational (Sept. 26-27) and Western Michigan Invitational (Oct. 3-4)... tied for fourth in tri-meet with Bowling Green and Youngstown State (April 14) with round of 78.

ELLIE CRONIN | FRESHMAN | DAYTON, OHIO
Has an 80.1 scoring average in her first season of collegiate golf... has played all 25 rounds... has season-best round of 75, done multiple times... posted three top-10's... shot 78 in her first collegiate round at YSU Kickoff (Sept. 5)... tied for fourth at Golden Grizzlies Invitational (Sept. 26-27), helping team to title... shot 75 in tri-meet with Oakland and Youngstown State (Feb. 21) to tie for third place... tied for 11th at Horizon League Championship (April 23-25) with rounds of 83-76-77 (236)... older sister, Micaela, was a member of CSU golf team from 2010-14.

RAYNA OOSTERHUIS | SOPHOMORE | EDMONTON, ALBERTA
Posts an 80.7 scoring average in 11 events (24 rounds)... finished as runner-up at Horizon League Championship to earn spot on all-tournament team... carded rounds of 74-74-75 (223) at League championship... her first two rounds of 74 were career-lows... had three top-10 showings and six top-20 finishes this year... tied for 12th place at Golden Grizzlies Invitational (Sept. 26-27), helping CSU to team title... tied for eighth in tri-meet with Bowling Green and Youngstown State (April 14) with round of 82.

EMILY TURSKI | JUNIOR | TOLEDO, OHIO
Has an 82.0 scoring average this year in 10 events and 22 rounds... posted four top-20 finishes... shot back-to-back rounds of 83, tying for 15th place at Golden Grizzlies Invitational (Sept. 26-27)... opened the William & Mary Invitational with a team-low round of 78... tied for 17th place at Cardinal Challenge (March 17-19), carding a first round 77... tied for 20th at Horizon League Championship, rebounding from an opening round 91 with rounds of 75-77 over the final two rounds... the 75 was a career-low round.
