CSU associate head golf coach John Powers discusses the women's spring season and this weekend's Horizon League Championship.

CSU has been out of action since hosting the Pine Hills Shootout on April 14 with Youngstown State and Bowling Green. The Vikings shot 326 and were led by Sophie Kelner who tied for fourth place with a round of 78, while Ellie Cronin and Rayna Oosterhuis both shot 82 and tied for eighth.

The Vikings have won two tournaments this year and placed in the top-three five times, while the team's 316.2 scoring average is currently the lowest scoring average for a season in school history. The Vikings have a team-low round of 301 this year, the second lowest round in school history.

Kaylee Neumeister tops the Vikings and ranks fifth in the Horizon League with a 77.7 scoring average for the second lowest scoring average by a freshman in the League. Neumeister has posted four top-five finishes this year and has CSU's low round of the season with a 70.

Neumeister's average of 77.7 is currently the third lowest for a season in school history, topped only by Allyson Hackman who averaged 77.4 in 2014-15 and 2015-16.

Kelner is second on the team and eighth in the League with a 78.8 average, while recording five top-10 finishes. Cronin has an 80.3 scoring average with three top-10 finishes this year, while Oosterhuis (81.6) and Emily Turski (82.2) round out CSU's lineup.

The winner of the Horizon League Championship will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals which will run from May 8-10 in Athens, Ga., Columbus, Ohio, Lubbock, Texas and Albuquerque, N.M.

The selection show is slated for Thursday (April 27) at 11:00 am on the Golf Channel.
