CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's golf team returns to action at the 54-hole Cardinal Classic that runs from Friday through Sunday (March 17-19).

The event, hosted by Lamar, will be played at the par-71, 6,008-yard Beaumont CC in Beaumont, Texas.

In addition to CSU and host Lamar, the field includes Bradley, Horizon League member Detroit Mercy, Fairleigh Dickinson, Indiana State, Prairie View A&M, Southern Illinois and Texas Rio Grande Valley.

The Cardinal Challenge will be the second event of the spring for CSU, which defeated Oakland and Youngstown State in a tri-meet on Feb. 21 in Florida. It was a match-up of the three teams picked at the top of the Horizon League Preseason poll.

The Vikings, who were tabbed third in the poll, shot 308 to defeat Oakland (314) and YSU (316).

Freshman Kaylee Neumeister tied for medalist honors with a round of 73, while freshman Ellie Cronin tied for third place with a 75. Sophomore Rayna Oosterhuis finished 10th with a 79, while junior Sophie Kelner shot 81 to tie for 12th place and junior Emily Turski was 14th with an 82.

Neumeister leads the team with a 76.5 scoring average and has posted four top-five finishes in her six career events. The record for lowest average in a season in program history is 77.4, set by Allyson Hackman in each of the last two seasons.

Kelner is second on the team with a 78.2 average, while Cronin is third at 79.4. Oosterhuis is averaging 82.1, while Turski has an 82.5 average this year.
