Women's Golf Wins Golden Grizzlies Invitational

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Cleveland State women's golf team won its second team title in program history, shooting a final round 320 to defeat host Oakland by one shot and win the Golden Grizzlies Invitational that concluded on Tuesday at the par-72, 6,056-yard Katke-Cousin GC. All five CSU players finished in the top-15 of the 50-player field.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
• Freshman Ellie Cronin tied for the low round of the tournament with a 76 today and finished in a tie for fourth place with a 36-hole total of 158 (82-76).
• Freshman Kaylee Neumeister carded her second straight round of 79 today and tied for fourth place with a 158 total. She ranked third in the tournament with 22 pars, third in par-3 scoring (3.25) and fifth in par-five scoring (5.12).
• Junior Sophie Kelner placed sixth with rounds of 78-82 (160) and led the field with a 5.00 scoring average on the par-fives.
• Sophomore Rayna Oosterhuis tied for 12th place with rounds of 78-87 (165), while junior Emily Turski shot back-to-back rounds of 82 for a 166 total.

FORE THINGS TO KNOW
• The tournament title was the second in program history. The Vikings also won the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Sept. 12-13, 2009.
• Cronin started the day tied for 14th place and moved up 10 spots with her final round 76. She led the field with 24 pars over the two-day event.
• Neumeister was CSU's top finisher in each of the first two tournaments and tied with Cronin for the best finish by a CSU golfer at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational.
• As a team, the Vikings made a tournament-best 95 pars and led the field with a 5.22 scoring average on the par-fives. CSU was also second in par-three (3.58) and par-four (4.55) scoring.

UP NEXT
The Vikings head back to Michigan to compete in the Western Michigan Invitational on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 3-4).
