Vikings Return to Action at Golden Grizzlies Invitational

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's golf team returns to action on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 26-27) at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational.

The 36 hole event, hosted by Oakland, will be played at the par-72, 6,056-yard Katke-Cousin GC in Rochester, Mich.

In addition to CSU and host Oakland, the field includes Detroit, Wayne State (Mich.), UIC, Niagara, Youngstown State and Green Bay.

CSU has played in two events this fall, placing third at the season opening YSU Kickoff and 10th at the William & Mary Invitational (Sept. 11-12).

The Vikings have played the same lineup in both events this year - juniors Sophie Kelner and Emily Turski, sophomore Rayna Oosterhuis and freshmen Ellie Cronin and Kaylee Neumeister.

Neumeister leads the team with a 76.4 scoring average, which includes a third place showing at the YSU Kickoff when she shot back-to-back rounds of 74. She was also CSU's top finisher at William & Mary, tying for 26th place.

Kelner is second on the squad with a 79.0 average, including a fourth place showing at the YSU Kickoff with rounds of 74-76.

As a team, the Vikings are averaging 314.8 per round this year, including a season-low 305 in the first round at YSU, tied for the third lowest round in school history.

Following the Golden Grizzlies Invitational, the Vikings are back in action at the Western Michigan Invitational on Oct. 3-4.
